STAR TRAIL PHOTOGRAPHY
STAR TRAIL PHOTOGRAPHY
Learn how to utilize long-exposure techniques to transform the apparent motion of the stars into stunning, circular light patterns through this specialized photography workshop led by SATTAR WAHEED https://www.instagram.com/sattarwaheed.
In Star Trail Photography, you will explore the technical camera settings, essential equipment, and unique compositional strategies required to successfully capture the celestial motion over extended periods. You'll gain a deep understanding of how to combine science and art to create breathtaking images that showcase the passage of time.
What you will learn:
- Essential Gear & Setup – Discover the necessary equipment (sturdy tripods, wide-angle lenses, intervalometers) and learn how to secure your camera for hours of continuous shooting.
- Mastering Long Exposures – Understand the critical relationship between Aperture, ISO, and Shutter Speed in low-light conditions to capture bright, continuous trails without excessive noise.
- Finding the Celestial Pole – Learn how to quickly locate the North Star (Polaris) in the Northern Hemisphere (or the Southern Celestial Pole) to create perfect concentric star trails.
- Composition in the Dark – Explore techniques for incorporating compelling foreground subjects (e.g., trees, buildings, landscapes) that anchor the image and add scale to the dynamic star trails.
- Stacking vs. Single Exposures – Compare and contrast the methods of capturing multiple shorter exposures for later stacking in post-production versus attempting one extremely long exposure, focusing on noise reduction and quality.
- Post-Production Magic – See how specialized software is used to align and stack hundreds of images into a single, seamless star trail photograph.
This intensive workshop will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to venture out under the night sky and capture one of the most mesmerizing phenomena in astrophotography.
